SEMA 2010

Show Cars and More . . .

Photos and Story
by Julia and John Aschenberg

  • For the second year in a row, LIA Magazine, attended the SEMA Show in Las Vegas Nevada. The scenery is absolutely beautiful! We also enjoy coming to the show at this time of the year because our winter months are starting up back home and we are not quite ready for ole man winter. As always there are lots of vendors to see, workshops that you can attend, products to view, activites to enjoy at the show and in the evening, plus many gorgeous vehicles to feast your eyes on everyday. This is just a small sampling of the many things that we enjoyed every day at the show. Should you like to see more click on one of the web galleries below or pdf's files.

  • (17) Do you have any idea what size of wheels those are on the vehicle?

  • (19) Melanie Rushforth and Jason were at the show checking out everything. Here she is pointing out a sample of their wheels on a Chevelle inside one of the buildings.

  • (20) Brandy Morrow with Speed By Spectre took time to pose by the 2nd Gen Camaro. She is using this Camaro for driving in the Autocross at many Goodguys shows this summer. I can tell you Brandy represents the company quite well in driving the Camaro. If you don't believe me just catch a ride with her at an autocross event.

  • (24 - 27) Scott Drake and staff of Drake Automotive Group had an open house for a small group. They were kind enough to invite our staff from LIA Magazine. The company is recognized in the vintage Mustang restoration market. With that experience they also offer parts for new-model Mustangs, Challengers, Jeeps, and vintage Broncos with more product lines in production, including Camaro and FJ Cruiser.

  • After watching the drifting for a couple of days I decided that I wanted to ride in one of those machines. The rest of the staff were totally surprised, well you only go around in this life once, so live it up once and a while. We got up in the wee morning hours to be first in line, however this young couple in photo (#34) beat the three of us. We had a blast waiting in line talking with them. Her boyfriend wasn't going to ride, though by the time they brought the cars out he decided to go for it and ride. By the way, he loved it!

  • (37) Yes, this is your LIA Lady, Julia, enjoying her ride with none other but the great Vaughn Gittin Jr. The best at doing the Drifting.

  • 38
  • (38) Even though it is difficult to make him out, this is John, my associate publisher riding with Justin Pawlak. For those of us that our new to the idea of drifting it was fun no matter who we rode with, Justin or Vaughn!

  • (39) Leo, our Industrial Advisor, was the last one of our staff to get a ride before they shut down the cars to rest for a few hours. He rode with Justin Pawlak. When Justin found out he was the last ride, boy did he give him a ride... All Leo could do was just say WOW after the ride. He definitely looked like he got a great ride and was enjoying the moment.

  • (40) Kristin Martin, who we met last year at the GNRS Show, met up with me and took the time for a photo op. She and a few others from So CAL area formed a ladies car club called the Gasoline Girls. Look for a future article about the club.
