The NSRA Street Rod Nationals is the grandpappy of their shows. NSRA has held this show continuously at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center grounds since 1998. This makes the show centralized for those street rodding families coming from the surrounding midwestern states. The grounds are surrounded by motel and hotel venues making it close to and from the grounds. After the show food choices are plentiful whether you go north, south, east, or west.
The show begins on Thursday and ends with the awards on Sunday, which is held in Freedom Hall. If you have never been to this show be sure to put on your walking shoes. If you don't want to do that much walking make sure the gas tank is full so that you can cruise the grounds. You wonder why I say to have your walking shoes or gas tank filled, let me give you a few facts about the grounds.
The Kentucky Fair and Expo Center is one of the top ten largest facilities of its kind in the U.S. So, the 400 acre property houses more than 1 million square feet of indoor space including Freedom Hall. The indoor arena alone seats over 19,000 people. Now maybe you can understand why so many of us like to come to this show. Where else can you go to see so many vendor products all under one roof. Plus room to park without feeling like you are cramped for space. And when you are bored have room to cruise around instead of walking to see everyone elses beautiful ride.
Yes, there was well over 10,000 vehicles in attendance. Now add two or three people per vehicle that were on the grounds. We are not finish yet with the people in attendance. What about all the vendors rigs and staff that they brought. Oh, don't forget the food venders and the swap meet area. Lets not forget about the thousands upon thousands of spectators that attend the show everyday. Yes, now maybe you can see why this is the perfect place for the show. Yes, there is still room for cars and people on the grounds. Maybe in the future the show will need the space with the 30 year rule change that NSRA made back in 2010.

We are always so excited to attend this show. This is like a mini vacation for us, even though we have LIA Magazine work to do at the show. We love the happenings during the day such as: Builders Showcase in the building, Games, seminars, PPG Kids Coloring Contest, MHRA Rod Repair Shop, UPS Weighing Station, Vendors, Pro Pick Awards, 29 & Under Awards, Ladies Tea, Safety Inspections, Model Car Make & Take, Swap Meet, Women's World, Mall Bus, People Mover, and the list goes on and on. We also love the night scene of the cars cruising the streets just outside the fair grounds. When we are not watching the cruising we are visiting with old friends and meeting new. So those of you that have never attended you can see from the list that you have endless things to check out and do at the show. We are looking forward to the 43rd Louisville Nationals this year and hope to see you there. Be sure to stop us and say hello.
