Kick-Off Party at Dave Ruhs

    • Kick-off party for the Iowa to Ohio Goodguys cruise. This was held at the shop of David Ruhs.

    The first year that Dave Ruhs had a party at his shop it was very informal as every party there after have been too. It wasn't everyone in the cruise, however,that has since changed for the years following that first gathering of people going on the Goodguys Cruise. We all sit around with our cars, talking cars, imagine that, and going over what we saw the past three days. After everyone had a chance to eat and mingle, the one in charge began a brief meeting to talk about the stops at various shops, museums, etc. We began doing the cruise back in 2004 and haven't missed a year yet. Ths year was very different for John and I. We wouldn't be at the back of the pack instead we were at the very front because they asked us to lead the group across the country to our fnal destination of Ohio State Fair Grounds in Columbus Ohio.

    Dave and his wife Sandy put on a great spread of food and drinks along with great hospitality. They don't have just a small gathering of people, instead there is a mini cruise in at their shop. Dave & Sandy just love to make the cruise a huge success. This is their way of helping to break the ice with any one new on the cruise is by having the Kick-off Party on Sunday night. This is really nice for everyone to meet up with old cruisers plus make some new friendships with anyone who has never done the cruise before. We all really get to relax after seeing three days of the Hearthland Nationals Show. This is so nice of both of them to jump start the getting to know one-another on the cruise.

    The images you will be looking at for the next few pages is the crusing fun that was had by all. We begin the coverage with images from the Kick-Off Party followed by four days of cruising and stops. I hope you enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed the cruise to the Columbus Goodguys Nationals. Maybe you will enjoy them so much that you'll want to join up with the rest of us cruisers in 2016..
